Yep. You read that right. And we're darn proud of it. Al Roker hung that moniker on us on the Food Network. This website will give you an idea why, but one "in person" visit will seal the deal.

 

The Beginning of Linger Lodge.....

On a warm, humid summer evening, Ol' Mike Bennett was boating on the dark waters around the legendary Braden River. The night seemed unusually still, when he spotted two red eyes just above the water line. Before he knew what was happening, a long tail whipped across the bow and knocked him plumb into the black water. An enormous, hungry gator grabbed ahold of Ol' Mike's leg and dragged him down into the water for dinner. It was a formidable fight... rolled over and over with Ol' Mike's leg in his jaws; While Mike¹s one leg was about to become the gator's first course, on his other leg was strapped his favorite knife, Big Boy. In a flash, Big Boy, did his work and the gator's jaws opened up forever. It didn't hurt none that Ol' Mike was the Alligator wrestling champion of the State of Florida. The 16 foot result hangs over the fireplace at the front of the Linger Lodge Restaurant. Don't get too close.....
